What a usage limit is
Usage limits control resource consumption over a period. The interface may show a short window and a longer weekly window, each with its own refresh.
Consumption is not determined by request count alone. Context size, images, tool calls, model choice and background work can make similar-looking tasks consume different amounts.
Different time windows
A short window manages bursts of intensive activity, while a weekly allowance controls longer-term use. The Usage screen shows the windows available to a specific account.
One window refreshing does not imply that every other window refreshed. Check each displayed allowance separately.
Reset versus normal refresh
A normal refresh occurs when the account's window expires. A public Full Reset is an additional event, while a Banked Reset may require activation.
An extra reset does not necessarily change the future normal schedule. Scope and cycle effects depend on the original announcement and account interface.
Why real usage varies
Model cost, context length, compaction behavior and tool results all affect consumption. OpenAI may also adjust efficiency or policy over time.
Do not infer a fixed personal allowance from somebody else's screenshot. Your Usage page and explicit OpenAI documentation are the relevant sources.
How to check and troubleshoot
Start in Usage and identify which window is exhausted. Consider model changes and whether a task carries large context or many tools.
If the display appears abnormal, check OpenAI Status. AIReset provides public context but cannot read private account allowances.
Common misconceptions
An extra reset is not unlimited access, a model launch does not guarantee a reset, and service recovery does not automatically restore allowance.
AIReset does not invent fixed counts that OpenAI has not published. Unspecified allowance details vary by account and plan.
